Auberge du Lion d'Or in the Charente

Your arrival at the Auberge

The Auberge's reception: light wood counter, green velvet armchairs and a wicker lamp.

Here, a real person welcomes you. An open reception desk, a smile, the keys to your room and a few good addresses. This is how your arrival at the Auberge du Lion d'Or works:

  1. After booking, you receive a confirmation email with all the practical information.

  2. On arrival, reception welcomes you from 7:30 am to 9 pm; outside these hours, let us know and a secure key box will be waiting for you.

  3. Your room is ready from 3 pm. Settle in, then come and have a drink on the terrace.

What you will find here:

  • A personal welcome, every day

  • Quiet, clean and comfortable rooms

  • Free Wi-Fi throughout the building

  • A homemade breakfast

What we don't offer (honestly):

  • No night reception (late arrival on request)

  • No room service

  • No spa or swimming pool

  • No shuttle or valet service

If that is what you are looking for, a large hotel will suit you better. If you prefer a simple, warm and honest address at a fair price, you have come to the right place.

Who is it for?

Double Room: light wood desk, kettle, TV and a window with sheer curtains.

The Auberge is for you if:

  • You are touring the Charente by bike or by car and want a quiet place to stop

  • You are visiting Cognac, Angoulême or the vineyards and want to sleep in the countryside

  • You are travelling for work and prefer a simple, well-kept address

  • You value home cooking and a sincere welcome over the services of a large hotel

It is less suited to you if:

  • You expect a concierge or room service

  • You are looking for a spa, a pool or a gym

  • You want a city-centre hotel with nightlife

  • Private bathroom (shower or bathtub, WC)

  • Desk, kettle and free Wi-Fi

  • Flat-screen TV
